Two shot in Khulna post-poll violence

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Two persons have been shot in post-Khulna City Corporation (KCC) poll violence in Kashipur Padma-Meghna gate area of the district town.

The two injured are identified as Enam Munsi and Wadud Munshi Babu.

Following the incident, police detained six people along with a fire arms.

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) additional deputy commissioner Sonali Sen said there was a clash centering establishing supremacy in the area on Saturday evening. The clash took place between newly elected councilor Sultan Mahmud Pintu and Awami League backed defeated candidate Sheikh Selim Ahmed. 

Later, police conducted drive in the area and detained six people named Mahfuz, 22, Pappu Sardar, 21, Khalid Bin Walid, 26, Sumon, 27, Sani, 28 and Imran Hasan, 24. Meanwhile, the law enforcers found a pistol from Imran Hasan.
