Two suspected thieves killed in Kapasia mass-beating

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Two suspected cattle thieves were killed in mass-beating at Borochhit area of the district's Kapasia upazila on Saturday.

One of the deceased was known as Alam, 30, while another aged nearly 35 could not be identified immediately.

Hssan Jamil, resident medical officer (RMO) of Kapasia Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the death of two, saying 'They were brought to the hospital around 2:30pm."

Zahirul Islam, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kapasia Police Station, and locals said several thieves were fleeing with cattle by a covered van. Sensing the matter, locals chased them. On way, the covered van hit a roadside tree at Borochhit area. People caught three of the thieves while they were tried to flee. Later, people gave them good thrashing. Being informed, police recovered them and took to the upazila health complex where doctors declared them dead.

The covered van along with one cattle was seized. Another injured was admitted to Shahid Tazuddin Medical College and Hospital, he added.
