Two-year-old girl in ‘police custody’ with parents

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: Police arrested a couple in a theft case at Sakhipur in Tangail.

The couple were known as Farid Uddin Khan and his wife Nur Bhanu. They have a two-year-old girl, Maria, who has to pass his days in the custody with her parents.

According to sources, the couple were arrested from ward no. 5 of Sakhipur municipality on Friday night. On the following day, they were appeared before a Tangail court. After hearing, they were placed in remand for two days. Later, the couple with their baby girl were brought back to the police station.

According to case statement and police, Nur Bhanu used to work as domestic worker at one Wadud Hossain’s house. She allegedly stole different goods including gold ornaments and cash money after breaking locks of Almirah.  She sold the theft goods by her husband. And that’s why, her husband was also sued in the case.

Amir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sakhipur Police Station, said that the court was informed about their breastfeeding baby girl.

Tanvir Ahmed, Inspector of Tangail court, said that the both accused were appeared before the court on Saturday. The court remanded them for two days. Later, they were sent to Sakhipur Police Station. Police station always mentions about child if there is any.
