UN representatives visit Rohingya camp

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A delegation of the United Nations (UN) has visited the Rohingya refugees at Ukhiya camp in Cox's Bazar.

The 20-member United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) team visited Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

UN delegate visited Rohingya camp number-11 in Balukhali-2 of Ukhiya around 8:30am.

The representative also met the Rohingyas in camp 17 and 18. Meanwhile, they talked with the persecuted Rohingya women and children.

The delegation included UN Under-Secretary-General (Humanitarian Affairs) Mark Lowcock and IOM Director General António Vitorino. 

UN team landed at Cox’s Bazar airport around 3:00pm on Thursday. Later, they met Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner.
