UNHCR official death: Couple held in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Police on Thursday held a couple for their suspected involvement in a UNHCR official’s death in Cox’s Bazar.
Police on Thursday afternoon detained Zafrin Afsari, official of UNHCR and his husband from Hotel Ocian Paradise of the town’s Kolatoli area.
Khandokar Farid Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.
OC Farid Chowdhury said, “UNHCR official Soliman Muletar, a citizen of Ethiopia, went missing on Monday last.”
“He was found dead in Sonadia Island of Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar around 11:30am on Thursday. Fishermen recovered the body from the island while catching fish,” he continued.
He said, “Police primarily came to know that Zafrin had love affair with Soliman Muletar. Besides, he was also an over addicted of drugs.”
“Soliman might be killed over the love affairs. Police held the couple for interrogation,” he said.
“Body of the UNHCR official was kept in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy,” the OC said.
