Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A high-profile delegation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Sunday morning visited Kutupalong Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar and heard tales of brutalities from Rohingyas who have taken shelter in Bangladesh fleeing persecution in Myanmar.
Many of the members of the UN delegation burst into tears after hearing the horrendous experience they have faced in Myanmar.
Arriving at 10am, the 26-member UN delegation witnessed situation on the ground and interacted with Rohingyas living on zero line at Tambru border area at Naikkhangchhari in Bandarban.
Hearing the tales of persecution from Rohingyas, a UN member said, “We could not figure out the reasons behind their leaving Myanmar if we would not visit their camps in Bangladesh. We have heard horrific experience from them. Now we will share this experience with our higher authority."
Meanwhile, Rohingyas were very happy to share the tales of persecution with the members of the UN delegation. They expect that the UN delegation will speak for their rights with top representatives of the UN.
