UP chairman among 51 held in Satkhira

Satkhira Correspondent: Police arrested 51 people, including a Union Parisad (UP) Chairman, from different areas in their separate drives conducted in the district from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.

Police said they arrested 11 people from Sadar upazila, seven from Kalaroa, five from Tala, six from Kaliganj, nine from Shyamnagar, seven from Ashashuni, four from Devhata and two from Patkhola during the drives.

The arrestees are accused in various cases, including acts of sabotage and drug abuse.

Azam Khan, Inspector of Satkhira district police Special Branch, confirmed the matter.
