Ultimatum given seeking reformation of BCL committee

Senior Correspondent: The deprived leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) gave a 48-hour ultimatum to dissolve its newly formed full-fledged committee.

More than two hundred BCL leaders and activists held a press briefing at Madhur Canteen on Tuesday noon giving the ultimatum.

The leaders, who failed to get posts in the new committee, demanded a "meaningful formation" of the committee through thorough analyzing.

BCL's previous committee's publicity affairs secretary Saif Uddin Babu told the press briefing that inactive activists, former job holders, married persons, non-student, aged persons, drug addicts, accused in various cases and the persons expelled for life on charge of various evil activities were placed in the new committee instead of evaluating the majority ones who were active in BCL in the past.

He also demanded exemplary punishment for the persons who carried out an attack with locally made arms at a press briefing of the post-deprived yesterday.

A full-fledged committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League was formed yesterday after a year had passed since the Awami League student organisation held its last council.
