VNSC teacher Hasna Hena freed on bail

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Hasna Hena, a teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College (VNSC) who was arrested in a case filed for provoking ninth grader Aritree Adhikary, to commit suicide, was released on bail.

She was released from Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur on Monday.

Md Shahjahan, senior jail super at Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur, said, “Documents relating to the bail of teacher Hasna Hena reached the jail around 10:00am. She was released around 12:00pm after scrutinizing the documents.”

Yesterday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah granted bail to Hasna Hena.

The court granted bail considering her age and unavailability of specific allegation against her.

Earlier on December 6, Metropolitan Magistrate MD Abu Sayeed sent her to jail rejecting her bail petition after she was produced before the court.

Hasna Hena was arrested from a city hotel of the capital’s Uttara on Wednesday night.

Mentionable, Aritree Adhikary, a ninth grader, of VNSC was found hanging from the ceiling of her home in the capital's Shantinagar on December 3, hours after she and her parents were allegedly insulted by some teachers of the school.

Later, her father filed a case against three teachers of the school.
