‘Movement to be continued until demands are met’

Staff Correspondent: Boycotting classes and examinations, students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College continued their demonstration for the third consecutive day on Thursday in front of the institute's Bailey Road branch over the suicide of one of their peers.

Students said they would continue their movement until their six-point demand is met.

Holding placards, hundreds of students along with their guardians gathered in front of the gate protesting the suicide of a ninth grader, Aritree Adhikary, after her parents were humiliated by the school authorities after the student was suspected of plagiarism.

The suicide of Class IX student Aritree Adhikari of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College (VNSC) allegedly after being scolded by her teachers sparked rage among students and guardians on Tuesday.

Aritree Adhikari, a Class-IX student, reportedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in the city on Monday after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using mobile phone during examination.
