Voting rights of women must be ensured: Kabita Khanam

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Election Commissioner (EC) Kabita Khanam has said that half of the country’s population is women. Their role in electing people’s representative is pre-eminent. So, their safe participation in practicing voting rights must be ensured during the forthcoming 11th general election.

She said this in an awareness programme over women’s safe participation and security confirmation ahead of the 11the parliamentary polls held at a Hotel in Khulna on Friday.

Kabita Khanam said, “Many of us speaking about women’s security and equal rights for them. And it is we who are creating bars in empowering women. If we could ensure security for women, separate initiative for this cannot be need ahead of the polls.”
