Walton Masters Cricket Carnival to kick off May 2

Sports Correspondent: The third version of the Walton Masters Cricket Carnival (MCC) is going to kick off on May 2 with the participation of former famed cricketers.

Walton Group, the country’s leading electrical, electronic goods, Home Appliances and automobiles manufacturing company, has become the title sponsor of the tournament for consecutive third time.

A total of five teams are taking part in the franchise-based tournament arranged by Imago Sports Management.

All matches will be held at the two grounds of Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in the country’s tourist town of Cox’s Bazar. The final match will be held on May 5.



Former cricketers who have experiences of at least five years in the national team, ‘A’ team and Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League will be qualified for participating in the tournament.

The five participants of the third version are: Beximco- Dhaka Masters, Sixers Sylhet Masters, Amber Chattogram Masters, Rajshahi Masters and Khulna Masters.

In a recent press briefing, the organisers accounced Walton as sponsor of the tournament named “Walton Masters Cricket Carnival (MCC)- 2018 powered by Scan Cement.”

Three noted former skippers of Bangladesh National team-- Faruk Ahmed, Akram Khan and Khaled Mahmud Sujon-- were present in the press conference.

Uday Hakim, Deputy Executive Director of Walton, attended the briefing on behalf of the sponsor company.



Uday Hakim in his speech said, “Three captains of the national team are on a stage today. Earlier in near past, three national team captains did not attend any such event together. Now it is the golden era for Bangladesh cricket. The craftsmen who are behind the golden era take part in the Masters Cricket Carnival (MCC). We will enjoy their bowling and batting talents in the tournament again.”

“Walton is always with all tournaments of Bangladesh cricket. We are with all levels of domestic and internationals. In continuation, we are currently with the Masters Cricket Carnival and will be in future. I, on behalf of the Walton Group, wish for success of the tournament,” he said.

Mentionable, Khulna Masters won the title of the first edition while Acme Rajshahi Masters and Expo All Stars Masters jointly the second edition.
