Walton gets first prize in best taxpayer at DITF

Economic Reporter: The country’s electronics giant Walton received the first prize under two categories—Highest VAT Payer and Best Premier Pavilion---at the just concluded Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2017) on Saturday.

The DITF authorities have selected Walton pavilion as the best for its eye-catching and beautiful construction, outstanding exterior design, attractive interior decoration and choice of visitors and customers.

Walton has also been adjudged as the best taxpayer, like in the past, depositing the highest Tk 36,03,899. In the last DITF-16, Walton awarded the first prize of highest VAT payer by depositing Tk 17,57,784 to the government exchequer. This year, Walton paid double VAT compared to DITF-16.

As the chief guest, Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam handed over the crests and the certificates of the first prize of Highest VAT Payer and Best Premier Pavilion Category to Walton Group’s Executive Director and Chief Marketing Coordinator Eva Rizwana at the concluding ceremony of the fair at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon in the capital on Saturday.

FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, Vice-Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Mafruha Sultana were also present at the event.

In his immediate reaction, Humayun Kabir said: “The awards have increased our responsibilities.  From the beginning, Walton is trying its best to reach the world standard products to the door steps of local customers at affordable prices.  Walton brand products are now being exported to different countries of the world, and it is said that Walton works as brand ambassador of Bangladesh-made products in foreign market”.

At the entrance point of DITF ground, the eye-catching Walton pavilion, which was colorfully decorated with lighting and gardens of different flowers, was main attraction of customers. Customers thronged the Walton pavilion everyday to buy Bangladesh-made products.

This year, Walton pavilion exhibited  over 500 models of electrical, electronics, and household products,  belonging to more than 50 categories.

Speaking at the event, Syed Ashraful Islam said, business people are the main driver of the present economic progress of the country. This international trade fair will further encourage the entrepreneurs to expo their innovating products.
He also said the DITF will be organised on a large space.
