Walton posts 56pc sales growth in DITF-17

Economic Correspondent: Walton Mega Pavilion in the just ended Dhaka International Trade Fair-2017 recorded about 56 percent growth in the sales of wide ranges home, electronics and electrical appliances compared to the sales in the DITF-16.

According to the Walton authority, the overall sales of Walton brand products in DITF-17 were jumped to Tk 12.16 crore from the sales of Tk 7.82 crore in DITF-16, registering a 56 percent growth. In terms of product wise sales growth, the country’s electronics giant Walton witnessed about 196 percent and 118 percent growth in the sales turnover of its fridge and television respectively.

The bumper sales also led Walton to secure the first prize under the ‘Highest VAT Payer’ category of the just concluded DITF-17 by depositing Tk 3,603,899 VAT to the national exchequer. In this year’ DITF, the local brand deposited more than double amount of the VAT (Tk 17.57 lakh) of the last year’s DITF. Walton also secured the ‘Highest VAT Payer’ titled.
 



In addition, the 3-storey Walton Mega Pavilion, which was decorated with lucrative architectural design and selfie corner, also achieved the ‘Best Premier Pavilion’ in the DITF-17.

Mentionable, Public Administrative Minister Syed Ashraful Islam handed over the crests and certificates of ‘Highest VAT Payer’ and ‘Best Premier Pavilion’ to Walton Group’s Executive Director and Chief Marketing Coordinator Eva Rizwana on the concluding ceremony of the 22nd DITF-17 held at the capital Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on February 4.

Besides, the National Board of Revenue also honored the top 10 highest VAT paying companies, including Walton Group, at the board’s conference room in the capital on February 5. On behalf of Walton Group’, Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) Abul Bashar Hawlader received the crest and certificate of ‘Highest VAT Payer Award’ from NBR.

Walton Mega Pavilion In-charge Md Shafiqul Islam, said, a total of 1,356 pieces fridge were sold this year against the sales of 458 pieces fridge in last year’s DITF, marking about 196.10 percent growth.
 



He also informed that they sold out total of 1,678 pieces LED television in DITF-17 whereas 769 pieces TVs were sold out in DITF-16, registering about 118.21 percent growth. Besides, the sales of various sorts of home appliances, including washing machine, iron, mop set, rice cooker etc. were gone up by about 74.58 percent in this year’s DITF.

Expressing satisfaction over the overall sales amount, the company’s Executive Director (PR & Media) Md. Humayun Kabir said, they set a target of selling out Tk 10 crore worth of products in the DITF-17. But, the showcase of over 500 models and colours of wide ranges of home, electronics and electrical appliances as well as the increase of customers’ reliance on the local brand products led the company to surpass the target.

For achieving this great success, he thanked Ministry of Commerce, National Board of Revenue, Export Promotion Bureau and finally the nationwide customers.
