Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Construction work of a new container terminal at Patenga has begun in a bid to increase capacity of Chittagong port.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan laid the foundation stone of construction work on Friday morning.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Shipping MA Latif MP, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal, Port Member (Administration) Zafar Alam and Chittagong Chamber President Mahbubul Alam were also present.
The Chittagong Port Authority said the container terminal would be built at a cost of Taka 1,800 crore through the engineering department of the army.
