World should be united against terrorism

A K Azad: United Kingdom is being fallen under terrorist attack continuously.  Amid panic of Manchester attack, the assailants on Saturday killed seven people and wounded dozen others by ramming a vehicle into a crowd on London Bridge and then stabbing people in nearby Borough Market.

The attacks were carried out just ahead of the general election of the United Kingdom. Election campaigns have been stopped due to the terror attack that created a storm of condemnation across the country.

Saturday's attack was the third incident during three months. Earlier in March, five people were killed and about 40 injured in London after a car ploughed into pedestrians and a suspected Islamist-inspired attacker stabbed a policeman close to Britain's parliament.

Besides, at least 22 people were killed and 59 wounded in an explosion at the end of a concert by US singer Ariana Grande in the English city of Manchester in May, in what two US officials said was a suspected suicide bombing.

It's a matter of great concern that such terror incidents are being carried out across the world.

Last year, an attacker ploughed a truck into crowds celebrating Bastille Day on the French Riviera in Nice, killing at least 84 people. President Francois Hollande called the attack as terrorist act by an enemy determined to strike all nations that share France's values.

The driver, identified by police sources as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old Tunisian resident in France, also appeared to open fire before officers shot him dead. He was known to the police in connection with common crimes such as theft and violence but was not on the watch list of French intelligence services, the sources said.

After the attack, the so-called Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility of the terror incident within 24 hours.

On social media, IS supporters celebrated the high death toll and posted a series of images, one showing a beach purporting to be that of Nice with white stones arranged to read "IS is here to stay" in Arabic.

The group also claimed the responsibility of UK attack.

British Prime Minister Theresa May called the attacks as horrible incidents ever and suspended all the election campaigns in the country.

UK is a liberal democratic country where people of all religions and casts live freely.

There is no doubt that the Islamic State is behind the attack as the group accepted the responsibility. Such the attacks spread panic not only in UK, but also across the world.

The terror attacks have also affected the cricketing world as Bangladesh among eight cricketing nations are currently staying in the country for the ICC Champions Trophy. The peace-loving world is very much concern over the attacks.

It is time to find out the reasons behind the attacks and the whole world should be united to face the incidents.  We want to see a peaceful global village after kicking off all threats of terrorism.
