Writ petition filed seeking division to Mainul in jail

Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking division facility in jail to Jatiya Oikya Front leader Barrister Mainul Hosein.

The hearing over the writ petition would be held today in the HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif, Mainul's lawyer Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain said.

Earlier on October 23, the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate sent barrister Mainul Hosein to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a defamation case. 

Mainul, who is at the centre of a firestorm of criticism for verbally abusing a female journalist on air, was picked up from the residence of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) President ASM Abdul Rab in the capital’s Uttara around 9:30 pm on October 22.
