Youth killed in Dhaka 'gunfight'

Staff Correspondent: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a “gunfight” with police in Dhaka’s Gulistan area early on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kamal, 35.

Police claimed that Kamal was illegal drug trader.

Sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station Syed Ali said that a team of law enforcers raided Gulistan area on information that a gang was trading illegal drugs near Mohanagar Natya Mancha in the area around 2:00am. Meanwhile, sensing presence of the law enforcers, drug trader opened fire aiming police which triggered the gun fight.

At one stage, when the criminals fled, police found a man with bullet wounds on the spot and sent him to Dhaka medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
