Youths should be careful about militants

Several youths have gone missing again in the city. According to news report, six youths have gone missing in eight days. General diaries have been filed with the concerned police stations in this connection. Family members of the missing youths along with the law enforcers are searching them. As per the last updates, all of the missing youths are still missing except one.

Sayeed Anwar Khan, a student of an English medium school in the capital’s Banani, has returned home four days after his missing. According to the published news, a microbus stopped in front of a house at Road no 21, B-block in the capital’s Banani and Sayed Anwar was dropped there. He was blindfolded during this time. The microbus left the spot soon after dropping him.

Several days ago, four of the missing youths were last seen in exiting a restaurant in Banani. They were captured in the CCTV camera. Since then, their mobile phone was found switched off. For this, the reports of their sudden missing have triggered many questions in the public mind. The questions are whether they have any link to militant activities or there are other reasons behind their missing.

Earlier, such kinds of missing incidents took place in the country as we know. The persons involved in the attacks at Holey Artisan Bakery in the capital’s Gulshan and at Sholakia Eidgah were reported to have gone missing several months before the attacks. Now it is needed to look into the matter whether it is abduction or there are other reasons behind their missing.

Militant attacks have taken place for several times in the country and we cannot ignore the fear of more attacks. It was seen that some youths left their homes to carry out these brutal attacks. For example, Nibras Islam involved in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Gulshan left his home on July 1, Tausif Hassan on February 3 and Mubasher on February 29.

Militancy has spread out in the world massively. Now it has become a global problem. The persons concerned are very active to involve youths in the militancy following various tempting strategies. They attract the youths in many ways to make them members in their group. So we cannot ignore the fear that the missing youths will not carry out any militant attack.

So it is necessary to find out the missing youths before any untoward incident happens again. The way Sayeed has returned home is not a normal case. It is needed to look into the matter closely whether Sayeed himself went missing or any group picked him. It is also needed to investigate their bahaviour, movement and how they led their life before going missing.

We do not want that youths like Mubasher and Nibras go in the dark any more. We also do not want that youths get involved in militancy and bring harm for their family and society. The government and the law enforcement agencies can play a vital role in this regard.
