Staff Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud MP opined that BNP and BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman killed democracy in Bangladesh.
The minister made the opinion while addressing reporters after a seminar at Shilpakala Academy in Chattogram on Friday noon.
He said, “Ziaur Rahman grabbed the power in a dark night. Distributing leftovers of power he had formed BNP with the co-ordination of political crows.”
Following the last Dhaka City Corporation election, Dr Hasan Mahmud said BNP lost in the last parliament election. The lack of confidence of their leaders made them unpopular. That’s why they did not participate in the mayoral polls.
Syed Nazrul Islam presided over the program where Chattogram Development Authority Chairman Abdus Salam, Chattogram University VC Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury and others spoke in the function.
