Seven-year-old girl found dead in swimming pool of five-star hotel

A seven-year-old girl was found dead in swimming pool of five-star hotel ‘Royal Tulip Sea Pearl’ in Cox’s Bazar on Friday (October 7) afternoon.

The deceased was known as Mariyam Chwodhury. She came to Cox’s Bazar with her mother Sabina Yeasmin from Islampur of Rangunia in Chattogram.

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Police Station, said, “Mariyam with family members came to Royal Tulip Sea Pearl hotel on Friday morning. In the afternoon, she went to the swimming pool for bathing. At one stage, her body was noticed floating in water. She was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared her dead. It was primarily guessed that she might die of drowning in water.”
