Flood waters damage paddy fields
Bogra Correspondent: The recent floods have damaged standing crops worth about Taka 143 crore in the district.
According to sources in the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), a total of over 13 lakh farmers have been affected by floods to incur huge crop losses in six upazilas of the district.
The mostly affected upazilas are Sariakandi, Dhunat , Sonatala, Gabtali, Sahajanpur and Sherpur.
Floods triggered by heavy rainfall and on rush of hilly waters from upstream inundated villages of the upazilas, marooning lakhs of people and damaging houses, roads and vast tracts of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) seedlings and other crops.
Most of the Aman seedbeds in villages were submerged and fish firms and ponds weren washed away by flood waters.
