Rainy season starts with first day of Ashar

Desk Report: Today is the first day of the Bengali month of Ashar. After a long spell of hot weather, the rainy season starts with the month of Ashar with showers to cool the earth.

In fact rain sets in our country in the middle of June and lasts up to the middle of September. Cultural organisations of the country are celebrating the advent of monsoon with various programmes.

Different cultural organizations including Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Satyen Sen Shilpi Goshthi and Chhayanat organised colourful programmes in several corners of the city to welcome the monsoon.

To mark the day, Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private TV channels aired special programmes highlighting the charms and beauty of the month.

Thousands of people took part in the celebration to welcome the arrival of rainy season. The youngsters celebrated the occasions wearing colourful dresses and singing Barsha and love songs. This season has huge significance in people’s life in terms of relief, peace and happiness.
