People rushing home to celebrate Eid

Staff Correspondent:  Braving all sorts of odds like traffic congestion and harassment the city people in thousands started leaving capital Dhaka for their respective village homes to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones.

The sufferings of the people have been multiplied by the traffic jam now created most of the high ways and roads with no hope for any respite soon.

In capital Dhaka, the home-bound passengers are crowding railway stations and Sadarghat launch and Gabtoli, Sayedabad and Mohakhali inter-district bus terminals.

Many office employees going home have taken extra leave on Thursday.
 
The government has introduced additional inter-district train, BRTC bus and launch services to cope with the rush of the passengers.  

The Eid will be celebrated on July 18 or 19, depending on the sighting of Shawal moon.
