12 to die for killing lawyer’s assistant

A total of 12 people, including eight of a family, have been awarded with death penalty for killing Mubarok Hossain Bhuiyan, an assistant of Dhaka Judge Court’s lawyer.

Judge Md Monir Kamal of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 handed down the verdict on Monday.

The convicts are Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan alias Mohub,57, Mozammel Haq Bhuiyan alias Badal Bhuiyan, 54, Afzal Bhuiyan, 52, Emdadul Haq alias Sikrit Bhuiyan, 43, Noyon Bhuiyan, 32, Bhulon Bhuiyan alias Bhulu, 30, Sultana Akter, 38, Ruhul Amin, 52, Shipon Mia, 26, Nilufa Akter, 57, Bidhan Sannasi, 25, and Delwar Hossain.

According to the case statement, the convicts hacked Mubarok Hossain Bhuiyan to death on October 22, 2015 at Gothalia Bhuiyanbari village under Bajitpur upazila in Kishoreganj district.
