About 61.1 percent people of Bangladesh believe that the next national election should be held within a year. However, about 65.9 percent believe the election should be held only after completion of necessary reforms.

Recently, a survey conducted under the supervision of Voice of America Bengal has revealed these facts.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, an interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus came to power on August 8.

The survey, carried out by ORG-Quest Research Limited under VOA Bangla’s editorial guidance, between October 13 and 27 across the country. The survey gathered responses from 1,000 individuals aged 18 and above.

Using a computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method, participants were selected via random digit dialing (RDD), ensuring a representative sample. The survey has a margin of error of 3.1%.

The survey was conducted by random digital dialling method. The sample of the survey was taken from ORG-Quest Research Limited's own database of all possible combinations of mobile numbers in Bangladesh published by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission in 2017. The sample for the survey was selected through Simple Random Sampling (SRS) using an R-based program.

About 60.4 percent of urban people and 61.4 percent of those who live in villages want the next national election within the next one year. Of them, 57.3 percent are men and 65 percent are women.

Among young people (aged 18 to 34), 62.4 percent want the next election within a year, and among those 35 and older, 59.8 percent want the next national election within a year.
