16 businessmen fined for charging extra for daily goods

A mobile court in Tangail fined 13 traders with Tk1.50 lakh for overcharging customers for daily commodities at different areas in the district on Friday.

Sukhomoy Sarkar, Executive Magistrate also Senior Assistant Commissioner (Land officer) of district administration conducted the drive in wholesale marker in Park Bazar.

A total of nine onion traders were fined Tk10,000 and a rice trader was slapped with Tk20,000 fine during the drive. Besides, three shopkeepers were also fined for not putting price list in their shops.

The authority will continue mobile court operation to keep the situation under control, the magistrate said.
