Amid the ongoing tension between India and Bangladesh, the India government has started construction of barbed wire fencing on the 29-kilometer border area of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal.
This construction is going on from Fulbari to Mekhliganj in Jalpaiguri district.
Earlier, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) faced obstacles from the BGB while erecting barbed wire fence in the open area of the Basirhat border near the Bhomra border in Satkhira.
However, construction work is continuing without any problem in Jalpaiguri.
Jalpaiguri lawmaker Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy said, “I had raised the issue in the Parliament and the construction has started. After completion of the work, the security of the citizens living in the Indian border villages will increase.”
