2 Rohingyas killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Cox’s Bazar: Two Rohingya ‘drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with members of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila early Thursday.

The gunfight took place at Ulubonia Naf river point under Howaikong union.

The deceased were identified as Md Saker,22, son of late Syed Hossain at Kutupalong camp, and Nurul Alom, 33, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Muchni camp.

BGB-2 Deputy Commander Major Shariful Islam Jamaddar said on information, a team of BGB men conducted a drive in the area.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight that left the duo dead on the spot.

BGB men also recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets and some weapons from the spot.
