Holiday has been extended by one day on Thursday (October 10) to two days on the occasion of Durga puja, said Mahfuz Alam, special assistant to the Chief Adviser to the interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus.
He made the announcement after visiting Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on Tuesday (October 8).
This year, holiday is extended by one day for Durga puja, Mahfuz Alam said.
The formal celebrations of Durga Puja begin on Wednesday (October 9), with the final day, Dashami, falling on Sunday (October 13).
On Dashami, with the immersion of idols, Durga Puja will conclude. In light of this, Sunday has also been declared a government holiday.
On the other hand, Friday and Saturday are already government holidays.
Altogether, the Durga Puja holidays this year will be for four days.
