India gradually accepting rationality of Bangladesh’s views: Foreign Secretary 

Pointing out that the ‘trust deficit’ in the Bangladesh-India relationship, Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin has said, “We feel that India is gradually accepting the rationality of our views. We hope that after today’s  meeting, this deficit will reduce”.

Mohammad Jashim Uddin said this at press briefing after a secretary-level foreign office consultation (FOC) with Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri at the State Guest House Padma on Monday (December 9).

Jashim Uddin said, “If the problem is not acknowledged, there will be no solution. Bangladesh does not want anyone else to interfere in its internal affairs. False information is being spread in the Indian media. We have asked to take actions against those in this regard”. 

“Bangladesh wants to resolve the unresolved issues with India. In addition, we have asked them to take steps to stop border killings”, he said.

He said, “We said Bangladesh does not like any statement of Sheikh Hasina from India. They have been asked to take a note about this. However, they have said that Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India will not affect the relations between the two countries.”

“India wants to continue mutually beneficial relationship with Dhaka”, Jashin Uddin said.
