35 shops gutted in fire

At least 35 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at an old market of Ferry ghat intersection in Khulna city on Tuesday morning.

Iqbal Bahar Bulbul, deputy assistant director of Khulna Fire Service, said the fire broke out at around 6:00 am and engulfed 35 shops mostly of winter cloths.

Eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within half an hour, he added.

The origin of the fire could not be known yet.
