‘35,000 EVMs to be used in Dhaka city polls’

Brig Gen Saidul Islam, Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing of Election Commission (EC), has said that nearly 35,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be used in two Dhaka city corporation elections scheduled to be held on January 30.

He told this to the reporters at the conference room of EC Secretariat in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday.

Saidul Islam said, “We will do our best to hold fair elections as per instructions of EC.”

“We have taken all-out preparations to ensure that all voters can apply their franchises smoothly using EVMs. For this, we are providing trainings to presiding and polling officers,” he added.
