4 land in jail for attacking journalist

A court in Dhaka sent four accused to jail in a case filed for attacking journalist during Dhaka city corporation election.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sottobroto Sikdar passed the order on Tuesday.

The accused are- Md Alauddin Sardar, Md Masud, Rasel Hawladar and Jahirul Islam Opu.

Earlier, Altaf Hossain, Sub-inspector of Mohammadpur police station also investigation officer of the case produced the four accused before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars.

The attackers swooped on Mostafizur Rahman Sumon, a crime reporter at online news portal Agami News, on the day of Dhaka City Corporation elections (February 1). Later, Sumon was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he had to get six stitches on his head.
