4 ‘pirates’ killed in Sundarbans ‘gunfight’

Four suspected pirates have been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sundarbans.

The gunfight took place early Tuesday.

All the deceased were members of a robber gang including its chief Aminul, according to a source at RAB-6.

Two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight, RAB said.

Tipped-off that some pirates took position in the Sundarbans, a team of RAB launched  a drive in the deep forest, said Assistant Police Super Md Tofazzal Hossain of Rab-6.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the pirates opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, he said.
