48 new corona patients detected in Gazipur

The number of coronavirus cases has been increasing in Gazipur district.

According toGazipur Civil Surgeon, a total of 48 corona patients were newly found until Thursday morning, raising the total confirmed cases to 317 in the district.

According to samples sent on April 19 and 20, a total of 24 people tested positive for coronavirus at Gazipursadarupazila, 14 at Kaliganjupazila, six at Sreepurupazila and four at Kaliakoirupazila.

A total of 109 corona patients are at Gazipursadarupazila, the highest number in the district.  Two patients died in the district.

People are ignoring social distancing rules in the densely-populated district. Low-income people such as day labourers, rickshaw pullers and auto-rickshaw drivers are still coming out of their homes amid shutdown, sources said.
