6 die ‘taking sprit’ in Noakhali

Six persons have died after ‘taking sprit’ from a homoeo pharmacy at Companiganj in Noakhali district.

They died from Thursday midnight to Friday morning.

Six others are also undergoing treatment in a critical condition at Noakhali General Hospital and Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

The deceased were identified as Mohin Uddin, 40, son of late Foyez Ahmed at Mohammadnagar village under Companiganj upazila,  Nur Nabi Manik, 50, at Basurhat municipality, Robi Lal Roy, 57, son of Anil Roy at Basurhat municipality, Abdul Khaleq, 72, at Teker Bazar of Charkakra union, Sabuj, 60 at Sirajpur union, and Liton, 50, son of Abdur Rahman.

Confirming the news, Arifur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station, said police visited the place.
