5 female staff of Clifton Group to study at AUW

Staff Reporter, Chattogram: A total five female employees from Clifton Group will get scope to study at the Asian University for Women free of cost.   

The Asian University for Women will cover the costs for tuition fees, books, accommodation, primary healthcare, meals and other basic needs for the duration of their studies while the Clifton Group will continue to pay the monthly salary of these women.

Five employees from the Clifton Group who have attained a Higher Secondary Certificate and have cleared the entrance examination for the university will be selected by the Group, 2 workers have already been accepted for the Fall 2019 session.

Selected employees will gain entry into AUW’s “Pathways for Promise” program. This is a year-long preparatory program that enhances English and Math skills. Since its launch in 2016, 50+ students from Ready-made garments background have completed this course.

Upon completion of this program, students will join the “Access Academy” program for one year, following which they will engage in 3 years of undergraduate studies. Students who successfully complete their studies at AUW will be awarded with a Bachelor’s degree.

Dr Dave Dowland, the AUW registrar, and Md. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Sr. Director & CEO of the Clifton Group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the latter's corporate head office in Chattogram on August 5, 2019.
