5 to die for war crimes in 1971

Five people have awarded with death penalty for their crimes during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 in Gaibandha.

A three-member ICT panel, headed by its Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam delivered the verdict on Tuesday.

There were six accused in the case. Among them, Md Ranju Miah is in the jail and Md. Azgar Hossain Khan has died.

The absconding convicted are-Abdul Jabbar (86), Md. Jafijar Rahman Khoka (64), Md. Abdul Wahed Mondol (62) and Md. Momtaz Ali Bepari Momtaz (68).
