6 get life term in gang rape case

A Court in Sirajganj has sentenced six people to life term imprisonment in a case filed for gang raping a young girl in Bhatpiary village of the Sadar upazila on April 20, 2016.

The court also fined them Tk one lakh each.

Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir of the Sirajganj Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal 1 delivered the verdict around 12:00 pm on Thursday.

The lifers are Rasel, 22; Sohel, 23; Razzak, 41; Nazmul, 21; Nuru alias Nur Islam, 23 and Abdul Momin, 31. Among them, Sohel and Momin are on the run.

Advocate Sheikh Abdul Hamid, special public prosecutor at the Sirajganj Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal 1, confirmed the matter.
