HC dismisses 6 cases against Prof Yunus

The High Court has dismissed five cases filed with labour court and a defamation case against Chief Adviser of the interim government and Nobel peace laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

The court issued its ruling on Thursday (November 21), following an earlier order on October 24 by a bench led by Justice AKM Asaduzzaman.

Justice AKM Asaduzzaman cancelled the defamation case filed with Kotwali Police Station in the capital in 2010 against Prof Yunus stating that, the case was filed for harassing Yunus.

The same HC bench cancelled the procedures of five case filed with Dhaka Third Labour Court against Dr Yunus which were pending.

The court observed that the plaintiff had wasted judicial time by filing these cases without following the proper legal procedures. For this, these five labour court cases were cancelled.
