We are ashamed of police crimes: IGP 

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said, “The police was used politically for the last 15 years. There is no country in the world where the police has killed so many common people. This happened because the police force was under political influence.” 

He added, “Work is underway to reform police force in a bid to ensure that it does not fall under political influence again in the future. We are ashamed of the major crimes that the police have committed to protect a political party’s interests.”

The IGP made the comment as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with officers from all units at the conference room of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) headquarters on Saturday (December 21).

The IGP said, “Six thousand weapons looted across the country have been recovered. One and a half thousand weapons have not been recovered yet. Everyone's cooperation is needed to recover these weapons.”
