60 deer poachers held

Members of the forest department have arrested about 60 poachers with three engine boats and instruments.  

They were arrested in Joymoni area of Chandpai range of the East Sundarbans division early Tuesday.

All the arrestees hail from Gouramva union under Rampal upazila in Bagerhat district.

Acting on a tip-off, members of the forest department ambushed the poachers near a canal when three boats anchored there.

Under interrogation, they confessed to trading meat and skin deer.
