65 platoons of BGB deployed for city polls

The Election Commission (EC) has deployed 65 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for maintaining law and order in the Dhaka North and South City Corporation polls to be held on February 1.
BGB members started patrolling from 9.00am on Thursday.
BGB Public Relations Official Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news.
They will be on field four days before and after the polls.
According to the EC, over 54 lakh voters in two city corporations will exercise their voting rights. Of them, 30.10 lakh are in 54 wards of DNCC and 24.53 lakh in 75 wards of DSCC.
