70 sacks of rotten onion dumped into garbage stack

Seventy sacks of rotten onion have been dumped into a stack of garbage at Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla.

The rotten onion was dumped on Monday evening near Gouripur Subal-Aftab High School of the upazila.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dauadkandi Quamrul Islam Khan visited the spot and said every sack contained 40 kgs of onion.

He said ‘Bhai Bhai Enterprise’ at Gauripur Bazar dumped the rotten onion, and the onion was imported from Myanmar.

Locals said whereas low-income people are struggling to buy onion for its soaring price, a section of shady traders stockpile the cooking ingredient to make hefty profit.
