Dispose Yunus’s case soon: HC to Labour Appellate Tribunal

The high court (HC) has directed the Labour Appellate Tribunal to dispose the case of Nobel Laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus, in a labour act violation case.

An HC bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain gave the direction on Wednesday (July 3).

The High court bench gave this direction while observing the 50-page judgment in Yunus' case. The verdict was announced on this day.

Earlier on January 1, the court sentenced the Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to six months in jail for violating the country's labour laws. However, under the conditions of appeal. The accused including Yunus were granted 1 month bail.

On January 28, Dr. Yunus challenged the verdict. The labor appeal tribunal granted bail to four people including Yunus.
