82.87pc pass SSC, equivalent exams

The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations held this year were published on Sunday (May 31) with average pass rate of 82.87 percent.
Of the average total pass rate in the examinations, the general education boards recorded a success rate of 83.75 percent, Madrasa Education Board 82.51 percent and Technical Education Board 72.7 percent.
However, some 1,35,898 students got GPA-5 this year.
This year the student pass rate of Dhaka Board was 82.34%, Jashore- 87.31%, Cumilla-85.22% Chattogram- 84.73%, Dinajpur- 82.73%, Mymensingh- 80.13%, Sylhet- 78.79%, Barishal- 79.70% and Rajshahi-90.37%.
Among the general education boards, Rajshahi recorded the highest pass rate.
Earlier, the results were handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban this morning.
Later, the Prime Minister formally published the results through videoconferencing from her official residence Ganabhaban .
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and heads of all education boards were present during the handover of the results.
A total of 2,047,779 students – 1,024,363 boys and 1,023,416 girls – took part in this year SSC and equivalent examinations at 3,512 centres from 28,884 educational institutions.
Of them, a total of 1,635,240 students participated in the SSC examinations under nine general education boards, and 2,81,254 in Dakhil exam under Madrasa Education Board, while 1,31,285 appeared in vocational exams under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
Of those participated in the examinations, 1,690,523 candidates successfully cleared the exams.
