Amphan takes 5 lives n Jashore

Cyclone Amphan took at least 5 lives in Jashore on Wednesday.
Of them, two are from Sharsha upazila while two from Chougachha and another from Bagharpara. They all died as trees fell on them.
Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pulok Mondal, Chougachha Upazila UNO Jahidul Islam and Bagharpara UNO Tania Sultana confirmed the news respectively on Thursday noon.
The deceased were known as Chaina Begum and her daughter Rabeya of Chandpur area in Chougachha, Moyna Begum of Goga Pashchimpara and Mokter Ali of Samta in Sharsha and Doly Begum of Budopur in Bagharpara.
Besides, several hundreds of houses collapsed in the cyclonic storm in different upazilas in the district. Trees were uprooted and crops damaged by the severe storm.
Cyclone Amphan made landfall with sustained wind speeds of 160 kmph on Wednesday. Electricity disrupted in different upazila of the distrct since the evening on the day. Electricity was not restored there till 2:45pm on Thursday while the report was filed.
