Awami League’s 21st National Council begins today

Bangladesh Awami League, the party which waged the Bengali nationalist movement nearly seven decades ago and subsequently steered the country’s 1971 Liberation War, is set to stage its two-day-long 21st National Council at the Suhrawardy Udyan from today (Friday).
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the two-day council through releasing the symbol of peace pigeon at 3pm at the historic venue, the site of Bangabandhu’s landmark 7th March address and surrender of Pakistani troops in 1971.
The theme of the council is “On the way to implement Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, being advance irresistibly: We are Bangladesh”.
The main council session will be held on December 21 at Institution of Engineers drawing over 7,000 councilors from across the country a day after it’s opening at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
