Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali was the first batsman to record a century in a day-night Test off a pink ball. He has auctioned off that bat to fight against coronavirus or COVID-19.
Alongside with that historic bat, he’s also auctioned off the 2017 Champions Trophy title jersey, which has autographs of all the cricketers in the team. Proceeds from the auction will be used to help people in need of a coronavirus crisis.
The base price of both the monuments is 1 million Pakistani rupees. This online auction will end next Thursday at 11:59 pm. Azhar scored a triple century in Dubai against the West Indies in 2016. He played an unbeaten innings of 302 runs.
Pakistan won the 2017 Champions Trophy with surprising everyone. This jersey of that final, is one of the memorable achievements of Azhar. The 35-year old batsman said that the two memorabilia are his favorite.
“These are two of my favorite memories. Not all cricketers are lucky enough to score a triple century. And after winning the 2017 Champions Trophy, I kept everyone’s autographs in the jersey. Both monuments are very close to my heart. But in that difficult time, if it works for the benefit of the people, I will be better off,” Azhar said.
